I learned the word ‘serendipity’ in grade school – and never really got to use it in a sentence after that. Well today is finally the day! It was serendipitous that I came across this Gluten Free gem of a dessert & I think you’ll agree once you try it – lucky lucky you when you have this in your freezer!
I had a sore throat- maybe a cold, probably over-talking stress nestling itself into my right lymph gland. Either way, Mon evening I thought, “I know what I need - I need something cold & soothing on my throat.” Ice cream is out because if you’re congested in anyway, dairy only makes it worse. Fun pops & similar store brand stuff generally will put a Gluten Free person sick in bed, so that was out too….”hmmm…what to do?”
I ran into the local Jewel, which I rarely shop at, but for some reason did that day. Scanned the freezer section & thought, “well this stinks, there’s nothing here I can have.” And then…I saw…this. Roman Raspberry sorbet. This sorbet is a bright, summer raspberry red. It’s smooth, not icy like some sorbets & bursts with raspberry flavor the minute it hits your tongue. It instantly reminded me of being in our family’s raspberry patch picking berries & stuffing 2 in my mouth for every handful I’d pick.
Talenti Sorbet - I’d never heard of this company before – they make gelatos & sorbets. The gelatos look pretty over-the-top in flavors, but this sorbet in particular caught my eye because…
1) sorbet = no dairy, so good for the congestion/sore throat &
2) after flipping the glass jar around, it had less than 8 ingredients! Which you know by now is a great rule to follow to ensure you’re eating real food, not fake chemical stuff.
3) Special Bonus good thing!! Talenti makes a point to clearly mark their jars as “Gluten free” “Vegan” “Dairy free” “Vegetarian” “Kosher” “HFCS free” & ”green for the planet.” This clearly is a company that cares about the product they are putting out & cares about the health of the people consuming it!
You can be healthy & still have a treat every now & again, just pick something that doesn’t detract so far from your overall plan. With real ingredients, this treat satisfies you with an appropriate portion & gives your throat a soothing treat that beats any Icy Pop your mom could have pulled out of the freezer.

Oh that is the brand you were talking about…YES! That is what we have in the house and what Jerome eats! He loves it. I like it too but am not a cold sweet person as much! Glad you enjoyed it.
