Another busy day doing fitness-y stuff but thought this was worthy of a little time to post before tomorrow’s last Real Knowledge Tip of the Week for 2009.

I eat at Chipotle. While I would not advocate eating their often if you’re trying to lose weight, it is one of the only “fast-food” restaurants, that if you choose correctly, and eat with portion control in mind, you can come out the other side of that meal having eaten *high quality protein – Chipotle uses organic/free-range farmed animals *a serving of veggies of you get the fajita veg or a salad & *satisfying carbs from either black beans or corn hard shell tortillas.

Can you also go horribly wrong at Chipotle? Absolutely. Here’s a few things overheard by me or my man, who’s also a fitness pro, while standing in line at Chipotle. These people all are about to go horribly wrong in their decision.

“Extra guac please. (to friend) I can have extra of that because that is the ‘good’ fat…or so they say.” Note: It IS good fat – but even 1 huge spoonful is too much in 1 sitting

“Extra rice please…need those carbs!” Note: You want to spike your blood sugar & store more fat or have some energy? Because that choice is only going to accomplish the former, not the latter.

“I’ll have sour cream, cheese, AND guac.” Note: That’s probably more fat than you should be consuming in 1 day, let alone 1 meal. Pick 1 “fat” add-on, and then shuffle down to the register. You don’t need all 3, at eleast not in 1 meal.

Enjoy Chipotle & want to know how to eat well there? Leave your questions in the comments section & we’ll navigate the Chipotle menu together!

Mmmm...Chipotle.
